Service light 'on' - only serviced 3 months ago!

Mid march/3k miles ago my car was serviced by a local indy - they changed the oil etc - I know as I checked (and supplied the parts for them to do it). They turned the service light 'off' too.

Today 'InSP 1000' came up on the dash - the car is telling me it needs another service soon? What is going on?

If there was a fault, you would have thought theat the MIL would illuminate?

Anyone had this before?

What they said ^ but I'd also check as many of the monitored parts (I've never had a car with a service light so don't know what triggers it off) as possible too, just to rule them out. Oil, brake pads and discs etc.

what engine is it ? ........does it have a dpf fitted if it is a derv

Hi Benny - Signum 1.9CDTI so yes DPF Fitted.

I think I will take it back to the garage and get them to read the fault codes (its still in w'ty) as I would rather not cancel the service light - it could be 'on' for a reason!

Service indicator is NOT engine warning light, so it will not illuminate to show any faults - that is a different warning indicator.

engine light shows faults.....service light just there to annoy ya an take to vx to sting ya for some more dollars
