Default What Cleaner do you guys recommend for Alloys

Just tried to clean the 18" 7 spoke VX alloys on my car, and immediately noticed that the brake dust does not seem to want to come off easily.

I previously had those alloy look-a-like structure wheels which has a special wheel trim, but on those the dust seemed to come away quite easily.

So can you suggest a good cleaner that wont cause any damage.?

    Cheers guys.

I use Meguirs Hot Rims, which is quite powerful, but is safe to use on all wheel finishes. Once cleaned, you should apply a sealant, which will help to stop dirt sticking to it. I use something called Poorboys Wheel Sealant.

If the dirt is really baked on, a steam cleaner can help.

Good point matey... ****** right too..LOL

I noticed that the manufacturers date on the Bridgstone Potanza tyres were 1409 meaning the tyres were manufactured sometime early April, so I dont think the car was knocking around for months, stone chips obviously occured during those 72 miles. Anyway dont start me off again..lol I've almost convinced myself (but not quite yet) that I'm expecting too much, and its all my fault...LOL

This stuff is very harsh on the wheels and IMO should only be used when the wheels are caked in brake dust and even then only occasionally.

Lots of people on here recommend Very Cherry(?). I use Meguiars Hot Rims.

I have some Megs" wheel brightener. Though I tend not to use it as it removes any wax I have put on. But I find that if you wash/clean them regularly and from time to time apply a wheel wax or sealent to them, then the dust tends to come off easier when washed.
