    Default Wheel Refurbs (Non-metallic Silver)

Been round getting a few quotes to get the VXR 19s refurbed.

I got a few quotes of £400, £260 and my local bodyshop quoted £240.

However the bodyshop did point out that the standard finish is Non-metallic Silver. He said the paint required for that finish is four times as expensive and the price for all four wheels would jump from £200 to around £650.

Anybody know why its so expensive? I'd really like to keep the standard look but at that price I don't think I can afford to.

I just had mine done by Darren Burton (Too Smooth on here), he can do the same high power silver as they wheels come from the factory and charges £180 for all four.

He removes the tyres, strip's the wheels, repairs any damage that is there etch primes, then primes the wheels, they are then painted gloss black and the silver on top, which gives the high power silver finish.

He then re-fits the tyres and balances the wheels up before returning them. Several people on here have used him.

Personally, I think the only way to re-furb a wheel properly is to remove the tyres and do the whole rim.

There is a company near me called Lepsons. They have a few around the UK. Excellent reputation and very good. They have a website and explain the do and donts about getting them done on the cheap! worth a look.

Cheers for the info guys I will do some ringing around.
I'm in the South West and don't have any spare wheels. Gonna mean I've got it on axle stands for the duration of the refurb and courier time which makes it a bit trickier.
