Glad to hear the brand is safe. I reckon that they the new owners will end up scrapping the Vx brand and going Opel all the way!

If GM will still own 35%, what happens when they file for total bankruptcy within a few years, which MOST companies do after a chapter 11

Opel name replacing Vx? Doubt it, will they have cash to burn on a pointless rebranding exercise? The dealers won't be happy at having to rebrand all their premises. And for what? The same cars with a lightning flash on them instead of a griffin. As GM north america said last year "we won't be replacing the Vauxhall name in the UK, the UK is GM's biggest market in Europe, so whatever Vauxhall are doing, they're doing it right".

On a more important note, if indeed Magna have won, rather than Fiat, it's good news, they won't be doing as much of a slash and burn as Fiat would have, and GM-US will keep a share of the company, which helps with sharing development costs of future vehicles.

the vauxhall brand would be safe as it is only sold for the uk market, there is no internal competition, plus rebranding would scare a lot of customers off,the only reason for a rebrand would be if GM were to say yes we will sell off GM europe but we want to keep the vauxhall brand name,or allow the new company to use the vauxhall brand name untill a certain date,as GM europe found out, british leyland also found out that having more than one product with essentialy badge engineered cars will hit car sales, since opel left the uk vauxhalls sales went up
