    Default 1300 Mile Round Trip

    Hi

    I'm planning on driving down to Cornwall next weekend with the family, and just wondered if thre is anything I should check on the motor before I set off.

    Obviously will double check the tyre pressures, oil, water, washers etc but not sure if there is anything else worth having a peak at this weekend.

    Car had it's 60k service Dec 08, its an 06 1.9 CDTI 120.

    Most mileage I usually do is around 400 round trip, so this is quite a biggy.

    Operation of all bulbs; pressure in the spare tyre; tools to change a flat, including locking wheel nut key and something to remove the nut covers with.

    Just check the usual mate...

    Tyres
    Oil
    Water
    ScreenWash
    All Bulbs
    Spare Tyre condition and pressure
    Jack and towing eye
    Number for breakdown cover in car....

    I do a 1k round trip every 3-4 weeks and these are the only things i check.

    I only check pads discs etc every 3-5k

    I just got back from Cornwall, mine was a 700 round trip. Take plenty of change for car parks and I used my ice scraper loads to get rid of splatted flies on my windscreen and seagull Sh*te, have a great time.

    Id check that your locking nuts havnt been air gunned in by a garage monkey and that your locking nut key hasnt crumbled before you set off also if youve the vx ones

    Ideally, replace them with normal bolts so you don't have to mess around with the silly locking one...

    I'd also check that the pollen filter is clear of anything like large leaves that could obstruct air flow, and also that the drain in front of it (rubber hose) is not blocked. Last thing you need is a wet footwell. Only takes 2 mins to check/sort.

    well i'm going on a 6500miles road trip around Europe in 2weeks time. I did this 11times previously but this is my first time with my Vectra
