Smile Advise required on Vectra 2.0 DTi 2003

I currently have a VX diesel company car. Which I would like to purchase when its time is up. Can you advise me on any inherent faults that I may get with this car. Its going in for the rad mounts and steering rod, as its noisy.
The local mechanics wouldn't have one, if they got one in a lucky bag. But everyone has there own opinions.
    Please advise.

    Default Juddering VX 2.0 DTi

Thanks for that. I must admit, its not a bad car. I would like to get everything covered under the warranty before I buy the thing.
At around 1700 revs the you can feel the car start to judder, ever so slightly, but I can notice it. Acceleration is fine. Its just when I at 1700 - 2000 revs.
Any ideas ??? I have had some new tyres fitted recently

Is it engine judder or wheel balance judder?

It feels like an engine judder. The wheels are new and have been balanced. When the car is stationary and you rev upto 1700 - 2000, your feel the engine as though its skipping a heartbeat.

Funny that you mention that. My old 2003 2.0 DTI Astra did exactly the same kind of thing at those revs. It seemed to start with just a little bit of extra noise at 1700 revs, but soon developed into worsening noise and vibration.

It didn't start until the car had done about 20k miles, and I sold it by 23k - so never found out what it was.

Whatever it is, it wasn't a one off! Would be interested to find out what the problem was though...

Could it be warn engine mounts. It was a problem on certain cars with the 2.0dti.

2.0 DTi is a gr8 engine bud, dont be put off, I got one cos i wasn't that confident that 1.9's would be bug free, and I had it confirmed the other day, a lad brought me home in a 1.9 and he's sick to death of it, keeps going wrong, unable to get it fixed 1st time, leading to time off the road etc, I cant imagine what the local mechanics are thinking saying that about it, unless they mean the car as a whole.

I love mine, also a '03 Astra. I get that groaning noise just on boost. I guess it's just engine vibration. Oddly, the 2.2DTi has balancer shafts which stop that problem.

Main issues with the Y20DTH are leaky injectors, perished fuel spill pipes leading to hard starting, and glow plugs melting. The pump can take a dump if you run it on low grade diesel for extended periods, and it's £1000+ for a reconditioned unit.

I run mine on a 65/70 Biodiesel blend most of the time and it's much quieter and pulls even harder. 111.5hp & 174lb/ft torque with only minor air intake mods. Mine has 43k on the clock (I got it in September with 32k on it).

Re:juddering and as ZS has said - try a different brand / type of fuel. I've had experience of this with my Astra Turbo, run it on Esso SUL and its fine.
