Default Tuning box yay or nay?

Intrested in a tuning box if i can get hold of one cheap (such as Tankmans for sale). I say only cheap because im not exatly not happy with the performance of just my cdti 150 + airbox mod as it it now.

    Few questions though:

With mine only being a 57 plate i still no doubt have some sort of warranty left on it - so should i be avoiding that type of thing for now?
If not would Tankmans 120 box work on my 150?
Is a box something i could simply take out if something was to go wrong & put back in again?

Im not v.clued up on this type of thing as you can see

    Thanks a lot

    Alex

iv got a tuning box in my 08 elite and take it out for servicing .. i think if you don't go crazy with it in first and second gear especially when the engine is cold you should be fine

iv had no bother with mine and really impressed with the results
some will say go for a remap but each to their own i suppose

also lately iv heard vx can detect what sort of load etc you have put through your car and if it's not within normal parameters will invalidate your warrenty think this only shows with the tuning boxes and not a remap

yep me too.. My MPG is better after the bsr remap...

I wouldnt ever put a box on any car i owned, just my opinion after reading how they work and what the benefits are to your car by having a proper remap compared to a box..

I agree with the above completely.

You have no idea what a box does, or how it does it. They are usually quite crude in operation and put extra strain on items that don't need it. (eg fuelling system, especially rail)

A remap does the job far more professionally, better, and is far more elegant.

i had no problems with the car while it was fitted but after time things can go bad if your unlucky , just the fuel increse made me remove it.....a remap is the proper thing to do mind
