    Default Springs

Car just failed its MOT on front springs, both had snapped in at least 2 places

Local Vauxhall dealer that my mechanic usually get his parts from has just gone into receivership (Bicknells)

What sprins do you reccomend for the Signum 3.0V6 CDi?

and where to get them from??

I got a pair of replacement springs from Partco Autoparts for my 1.9CDTI Sri at £90 the pair. Dealer wanter £150 then fitting on top. Local garage fit them a sight cheaper. I have had no complaints the car has done 20k since.

Just typical mine went, Ive just been told I'm due a tax rebate........ I wanted to spend the money on my bike instead

Any ideas if I need to get the springs covers for these, to stop the dreaded shotgun effect of the springs recoiling back like the standard ones do

A spring broke on my 2.0T SRi about a month ago. I went to the dealers to book it in. I had to wait a week for a place, but was told that I could still drive the car.

Anyway, I took it in on the day to be done, and they said they couldn't order any parts as their account had been stopped. Great... tell me now, after I've booked the day off work.

I went to a local parts shop, not unlike PartCo, gave them my reg no. and they matched it up to some suitable springs, which were in stock. I paid £90 for the pair, took them back to the dealers, and they fitted them for £75.

Don't know what make they were, but were recommended by the service guy in the local part shop. Car feels just as good as it did before... maybe even a little crisper. Hope this helps.

Hopefully I should have them for next wednesday LMF said

Mechanic said around £150 to fit all four, but he said I will more than likely get it done cheaper, depending on much of a git the rears are to do

Cant say I'm looking forward to the lowness though, I scraped the front when I had the wheels aligned after my tyres were fitted, any lower and I'll have to supply my own wooden diminishing strips to get on the ramp.

Out of interest...........could knackered springs cause the car to fell VERY stiff at low speed??
