    Default Spare Key

    Hi,
I was just wondering if anyone on this forum knows where I can get a spare key for my daughters car. It's a Corsa and it's central locking but the quote I had from the main dealer was £140 plus VAT. An ordinary key is £100 plus VAT.

Is the main dealer my only option or could someone please point me in the right direction?

    Thanks in advance.

I would try another dealer. I think we pay about £65 for a new flip key for the Vectra C. That includes programing and VAT.

Your dealer's prices are stratospheric. Even with an immobiliser should be well below £100. Unless it needs to be electronically paired to the car on a computer, you don't need to go to a dealer, surely?

I had an 'N' reg Astra with central locking and I took it to a key-cutting place, where they duplicated the immobiliser chip in the key, cut a blank and hey presto. Total cost £24. But that was 10 years ago.

Edit: Please forgive me if your daughter's car is more modern and getting another key is more involved and therefore most costly, and I've got the wrong end of the stick.
