    Exclamation Spanner warning Light

    Hi,

just hoped into my 05 1.9 CDTI Signum today turned the key and the spanner light with the car behind it come on, as soon as the engine has started the light goes out.

she starts fine, drives fine no loss of power, this light comes on if the engine is hot or cold.

    any ideas

    thanx in advance

    Sam

quick update, called AA out to have a look. they done a computer check and came back with no codes.

so does this mean the error has cleared and i have to wait for it to go. or is there more to the puzzle?

If the light stays on until the engine has been started, then this is indicating a fault code is stored in memory. Maybe the AA code reader wasn't compatible with your car.

As long as the light goes off once the engine has started, then there are no faults. It'll take a number of clean key turns or 'x' days before the fault code will self delete.

    Thumbs up

as far as i remmember the spanner light with car behind means that the car has done 20k (not sure how much) since the last service. Nothing to worry about and you can remove the light yourself (there is somewhere instruction in this forum).

Nope. Car/spanner light is a fault light.

The ECOService Flex warning light is a picture of an oilcan with a spanner through it. And on newer Vectra-C's it's the word "InSP" that comes up in the odometer display briefly when you first turn the key.

Holding the mileage button dow as you said, only clears the service indicator, which is an oil can, not the spanner. If the spanner is permanently lit, it means the car has registered a fault. If you disconnect the battery for 30 minutes, then reconnect, it should clear the code. If the porblem was a glitch, it should stay off. If the problem is still there, the light will come back on.

There is a way to read codes for free:
