Default Mini review Kestrel DA and some new stuff

After waiting a month or so on the pre order list my kestrel DA came into stock at Autobrite a couple of weeks ago.

I decided to pick it up myself from Mark and while I was there managed to blag a couple of samples of some other bits and bobs to try out.

    First the Kestrel.

It's quite a bit smaller than my rotary and although I was only able to give the car a light polish I found it a breeze to use in comparison. Dead easy in fact.

Anyway the second I finished doing the car it rained so no Pics unfortunately but the one thing I was not able to test was paint correction so I saved that until today. With garden full of direct sunlight the conditions were perfect.

First the test panel. Another corner of the used and abused Pajero panel.

Then after Fastcut on a cutting pad and Ultrafina on a polishing pad.

I found I needed to apply a bit more pressure than with the rotary but the fact that this is a DA and therefore obviously a lot safer to use means that I think most people would be able to get great results with a little practise.

I would however recommend the brilliant guide to using a DA by Dave KG on Detailng World and a test panel to practise on first.

Bad points for me were confined to two things. The speed switch is located under the cable which meant which trickier access to increase the speed once the polish was applied and the motor doesn't stop immediately the off switch is pressed. Other than that I really like it.

    So onto the sample stuff.

Mark gave me a bucket to try and in his own words, "Give it a kick about"

The grit guards were not in when I was there so I used my Meguiars one. The bucket itself has an excellent seal and holds plenty of water. So after using it clean the car last week, today we kicked it round the garden.

Great product and I will be ordering one when the guards come in.

BTW when I took the grit guard out of the Megs. bucket look what was lurking at the bottom.

Anyway. a couple of more products to put up but I'll add them later.

Cheers Steve thanks for the write up. The buckets are really nice and the finishing touches will be look great. That lid does seal then eh??

As for the Kestrel for the money and what results you do get from them are great. Ideal for paint correction and for those who have never picked up a polisher before.

As for the rest of the products Steve, im looking forward to there reviews.

    Regards Mark

BTW our buckets are now gonna be these colours here

    and the prices are here
