Default Difference between Halfords and Vx mirror glass replacements?

Wifey came home from work this afternoon and told me when she went to get in the car this evening the drivers side wing mirror glass "fell out".

Had a search of the forums here and I see people saying that if you buy a replacement blind spot glass from Halfrauds it will end up with the heated function of the mirrors to be inoperative.

Is this correct and also why doesn't it work?. I can't see any difference between the Halfrauds and the Vx one?.

    Thanks.

Ah right, so it has to have elements running through it?.

I assumed the heated part of the mirror assembly just transfered the heat via conduction from the heated part of the assembly to the glass itself and it then got hot.

    Didn't think about elements though.

something to add to this is that the reflection is differnt aswell, not sue wgy but you cant see as much as you can with the original glass, well worth getting original in my opinion, i got a full mirror with glass used off ebay for the price of a new glass at vx dealers!

Yep, there was a kind of black thing that was the exact shape of the glass in there. I stuck the Halfrauds glass onto that.
