    Default Onboard computer....MPG

    Hi all

My new vectra has the onboard trip computer in the dash, and when I bought the car it was telling me that I was gettin 42.0mpg I've since discovered the "B/C Reset all" option, I clicked it when I put £25 of Diesel in and it shot upto about 65mpg for the first couple of miles and seems to have leveled out at 54mpg. Its a 2.2DTI, just wondering when all of a sudden since reseting the computer its changed the MPG?? is 54Mpg about right for a 2.2DTi?

    Any info welcomed

    Thanks
    Pete

The MPG you're referring to is the average mpg figure calculated since the last BC reset, so it's likely the previous owner either did a lot of city driving or had quite a heavy foot If you do mainly motorway driving then I'd say 54mpg is about right (very good, even) for a 2.2 - I do mainly motorway miles in my 1.9 CDTI and have an average of 47.9mpg, although if I reset the computer on the motorway and stick at 70 (as I always do!) for 10-20 miles my mpg average sits quite happily in the 60s / low 70s.

    Hope this helps,

    Hutch

I have not reset my trip now for 70 gallons and i'm getting 41.5 from 2.2dti. Mix of M-way and urban.

My 1.8 sri has never had the b/c reset from new, that 27.7mpg, average of 32 mph over 72000 miles. Not that bad as its either crawling along in traffic or heading to the limiter.
