Strange grinding noise coming from rear wheel

Hi guys

I was wondering if anyone has had this problem. when I am driving I can hear a grinding/rubbing noise coming from the drivers rear passenger wheel, the best description is that it sounds like the breaks haven released properly and are rubbing. I am taking it back to the garage I bought it from this afternoon and they are going to have a look at it, but I wouldn’t need new breaks on a 1 year old vecy would I

some good news, i took the car back to the garrage i bought it for and they have said that i need new pads on the rear, but they have said that if i pay for the parts then fitting will be Free :-) now i did my homework as well on the price of the pads just in case they try and pull a fast one, but a result none the same.

New rear pads in a year, boy has that been driven, (milage?). Better have them look at the front as well, pads AND discs.

yep will i have'nt had it form new it was a hire care first so you know that the tyres and breaks get hammered on them coz folk just dont worry about them as much as if it was their own car, i thought that new pads needed at 20K was a bit odd as well since my wifes clio has had 1 replacement set in 5 years, same with the megane i got rid of to get my vectra.

the noise is not the pads it is your tyres at 20k. This is a common issue - mine started at 20k - changed them at 26k when the wear was near to the bars. Fitted new Falken ZE912s and droning noise went away.

Hi there pscocoa

i checked out the tyres and te tread is fine, just usual road noise, but when i took it back to the dealer they changed the pads and all is well again, i just need to treat her to a good clean.
