    Default MOT Fail........advice please

Looking for some advice regarding brakes

My car failed its MOT recently on a number of things (yes, I was surprised )

    a bulb - easy

    cracked spring - done

but the next few things were all brakes

N/S front and O/S front discs excessively pitted
    Front brakes imbalanced
    Front brake pad application uneven

I have fitted new pads and discs at the front.Could not see anything else.Cleaned up everything good and proper before refitting. I am gettin git retested, but should changing the pads and discs at the front resolve these issues? I cannot 'feel' anything wrong while braking but I am always dubious about these places (National) as they always seem to find something. (The reason I am using them is the 50% discount with the RAC membership)

    Thanks in advance

No not really, but they are all related to front brake efficiency. Bit of a common sense link there

The brake imbalance could be due to to a sticking or lazy caliper piston. Have you got the results from the previous MOT brake test?

Keep us posted as to the results of the re-test.

Usually replacement of pads and discs will correct the imbalance providing the caliper was free and you were able to push piston back as sometimes it can partially seize also the same can happen with the sliders too. Hope it all goes well?

Passed but had to buy another set of plates !!! Apparently the rules changed from the 23rd April. The Vauxhall holograms into the backing are now a fail as is honeycomb etc.

Anyhoo, a pass is a pass. Of course it would be pointless putting the old plates back on now
