I think I'm right in saying that if it is in your account for 28 days then it's yours. My sister works for a bank and I'm sure that's what she said.

If only, sadly it doesn't work that way. If you spend the money knowing you shouldn't have it then it's theft. It has happened to people here in the UK on a smaller scale and they've been prosecuted.
