Either no car knowledge, tight or just ignorant, lets hope they aren't parents and that if that rubba gives out it does it when there's nothing else to harm around.

ive seen the same as 2LtrT, a young lass with a new mini and both fronts down to the wire. Did post on here about whether i should drop her in it with the police, leave a note on her windscreeen etc. Its shocking the standards (or lack of) basic care some motorists show. It should be part of the test now i think.

Tyres need to be minimum 1.6mm across the centre three quarter of the tyre. I've seen many a car with bald shoulders that aren't neccesarily illegal. Dangerous yes, illegal no!!

I try and change all my tyres at 3mm, as their performance seriously degrades after that. Although the price of new 19s may alter that somewhat!

Hi-jack - try www.wheel-base.co.uk for tyres peeps. Call them up for a better price than their website.

    Back to topic!!

That's interesting Paul, i was told by the local "establishment" that it was 1.6mm for the entire circumference across 75% of the width BUT there had to be VISIBLE tread on the remaining tyre.
