Default Best tyre for SRi 17 inch?

I'll be wanting new tyres all round soon, whats the best 215/50/17 tyres to get without spending a fortune? Quietness and grip are the most important to me.

Can 225 tyres go on the standard SRi rims then? Won't the diffent sizes affect the speedo?

It's only ever so slightly different, so slight that you won't notice. The 225's can be fitted easily to the sri rims (i have them).
The profile of the 215's are 50% of the tyre width

The profile of the 225's are 45% of the tyres width

Do the math's and you'll se that the profiles are nearly the same

    Thumbs up

    Hi All,

My SRI Needs some new tyres, its done 16,000 miles in last year and needs new front tyres, do you think thats a good life out of them?

So... Any suggestions on what tyre to put on and where to buy it from and fit?

Was thinking Avon ZZ3 but not sure.

Also would you stay with 215 or move to 225?

Neo Bro's NT5000's... you will get 4 on next day delivery for around the £250 mark.

Plenty on here like me will testify they are a good allrounder... i went from avon zv5's to Neutons & can't fault them...
just to add i stayed with the 215's

Change to 225 - more choice and thus cheaper.

Also can highly recommend Uniroyal Rainsport 2's. Best tyres I've ever had on a car.

You do realise you have dug up an old fossil? (Would have been better posting a new thread)

16K miles is acceptable for front tyre wear, if they are the originals
Equally, if they have been swapped rear to front that is also acceptable

Swapping 215/50R17 to 225/45R17 is personal preference
Compare the same brand then the price
5 years ago there was a BIG difference in price, but it is not as large now (and in some cases the 215/50R17 is now cheaper)
However, the choice is greater in 225/45R17

Agree with the larger choice, however I have noticed a recent shift in prices on 215/50R17 and have noted some are now cheaper than their 225/45R17 equivalent
