Default Vectra SRI prices around september???

Hi all. I recently parted company with my VeccyB prefacelift, sri 140. As it was crashed into by a stolen car, and written off .
My brother then bought a VeccyC 2.2 sri direct, which i like. My bro bought it two weeks after mine had been crashed into, and it was me who converted him from VWs . Think he was rubbing salt in my wounds!!

What i would like to know is, how much would i have to expect to pay for one in descent nick, just after september time?
As id love a black one as my old veccy was black. Im expecting to have around £6-8k available.

    Are there any other alternatives??

    How tunable are they??

Oh and why didnt Vauxhall / Opel make sri saloons??

    Vehicle : Signum

    Trim : Elite

    Engine : 3.2 V6

    Year : 05

    Default

Very few around at those prices as they are still fairly new. Could only find 3 on Autotrader HERE

They are 155bhp as standard but are not that "tunable" They can be remapped i think but not certain.
Personally i'd go for a lower spec CDTi 1.9 10 Here and fit a tuning box to around 190bhp. More power, torque and much better mpg.

I would be very wary of the 3 so called "Direct" models on Autotrader. I belive the 2.2 Direct engine was not available in the hatchback until April '04 (I got mine not long after). These cars on Autotrader are 2002 and 2003 models and as far as I know didnt have this engine fitted from standard at this time.
The only other model that the 2.2 Direct was fitted to earlier than April '04 was the estate. It was also available earlier in the Signum too.

In fact just looked at the red 2003 model on Autotrader. Did an enlarge on the rear end and there is no "Direct" after the 2.2 badge on the back. It hasnt been removed either because the 2.2 would be farther over to the left to allow for the "Direct" text. Scamming bar stewards!!

Dual exit exhaust would be dead give away.

My 2.2 Sri Direct is registered March 2004.Dual branch exhaust.Quite reasonable mpg to.Great car to drive when it behaves but not overly impressed with the acceleration.Just a list of problems the length of the M6 to contend with.

As said above, the 2.2 isn't particularly tuneable.

A couple of guys have suggested the 1.9 CDTi - nothing wrong with that. But if you were still after a petrol engine, the only real alternative would be the 2.0T. Very tuneable and a darn site quicker than the 2.2 - even in standard form.

Whether you could get a decent 1.9 CDTi, or 2.0T, for your budget is another thing! You'll have more chance with the 2.0T as the diesel will have that little bit extra price premium.
