    Default Tyre wear

I have Eagle NCT's on my 2.2 Direct Signum. Just checked tyre wear and both fronts are worn by 1mm more over the centre section of the tread. I remember reading somewhere that this usually means the tyres are over inflated. However upon checking they are spot on for pressure, the two rears have the same depth across the tread width. I use the same gauge and electric pump to inflate all of them so I am extremely doubtful that I have over inflated the fronts, (plus just had 40k service and dealer didn't mention this). This is worrying not just from a safety perspective but I now have to change the fronts a bit earlier than planned. Want to sort it before the next set go on. Any help appreciated (also any good websites where I can get cheaper NCT's)

First off, you don't want to put NCT5 near your car, unless you like mediocre outdated low grip tyres. More wear in the middle is possible, I've seen it before on cars that do a lot of motorway miles.

    What spec are the NCT5?

Seen a whole bunch of tyre pressure gauges recently that are nowhere near accurate +/- 6psi!!!

You can ring Consumer Direct and request lincolnshire trading standards, or visit, or email, contact details: http://www.lincolnshire.gov.uk/secti...64&docid=27520, or the County Council road safety unit, to test your tyre pressure gauge against their master gauge which will have UKAS accredited calibration and go from there in case your tpg is inaccurate.

Here in Norfolk we see quite a few concerned consumers with tpgs and inspect them for free as it's a safety issue, however, it is possible yours may charge.
Petrol Station forecourt tpgs are supposed to comply with the British Standard but that is +/- 2psi.

I really, really liked the Bridgestone Turanza ER300. Quieter, better wearing, better grip.
