    Default Boost sensor didn't sort it...

    ...after cleaning it.

    I've been having a problem where the cooling fan light, and the spanner light comes on. When it does this the engine sounds somewhat harsh, and at idle hunts badly between 100-1000 rpm (like, vroooom...vrooom...vrooom, constant revving sort of thing)

    To replicate this problem, all you have to do is unplug the wiring loom that has the boost sensor & oil temp sensor on it (unplug the entire loom) and try to start it...it will do the same.

    I have cleaned up the boost sensor, which was very mucky. However the problem has just started again.

    What I want to know is, what else is run from that loom, as obviously it is something on there.

    EDIT :: It's a 2001 2.0 DTi

    Cheers

    D_D : No I haven't. I thought the diesel section would be most appropriate? Should I post there too?

    B_S : Yup.

    If its doing it on idle sounds like it could be the air flow meter at fault. Probably best to get someone to read the codes for you
