    Default Swirl flaps

can anyone with a cdti 150 tell me if when reved light'ish (tickover to 2-2500 rpm) if the swirl flap rod moves, the reason i ask is because im sure mine never use to, and ive never noticed it before, obviously you would have to get someone to do this while you watched, i thought it only worked with boost!, for the record the engine was at running temp, and was working fully with any amount of revs ???

Mines does not move at all - although it broke off the motor link doesnt.

It only works under 5 Degrees as it is for cold starting m8.

Gazza 4's reply is rubbish (sorry!). The inlet should open at about 2-2.5k. It's got fig-roll to do with temperature and even less to do with boost.

The swirl flaps close at low revs to close one of the two inlet ports, which makes the incoming air swirl around the combustion chamber. At higher revs, the swirl isn't needed, so the flaps open letting both inlet ports do their thing.

Same idea as Twinport on the petrol engines, and the older dual-RAM on the old V6 and I-6 lumps in Omega/Carlton.
