    Default 2.2 direct engine light

Last night coming home from work i decided to give the car a rare bit of whelly. Problem is today the engine light came on and wont go off. Its driving fine tbh although there has been an exhaust rattle at low revs over the past couple of months. Has anyone experienced this or has anyone any advice? cheers

Is it defo an exhaust rattle mate? I had a noise a few years ago with my direct at low revs.Car had only done approx 25k.Car engine had a sort of metal sound coming from it.really noticeable if car was parked inbetween two walls. It turned out to be my timing chain had slipped.Never had a warning light though, lucky I realised it sounded 'not right' and took it to the Dealers

You need to get any fault codes read out. It takes away the guesswork of what's wrong.

My guess, next time you give it full throttle it will breifly cut power and your engine lgiht will be back. High pressure fuel pump.

Does it stay on until the engine has been started? The car/spanner light I am referring to.

If so then there is a stored fault code (or codes) waiting to be read out.

You can obtain any stored faults codes for free and very quickly

    Here's how to do it.

Maybe it doesn't work for all cars then, I don't know, it does work for mine though

Unless the light is still coming up as the fault is still present.

Best to get someone to read the codes.
