    Default New car incentive?

We all know about the Gov'ts hyped idea of giving people £2000 to buy a new car and scrap a car that is 10 years old. We all know that it won't work, and won't have the desired effect and we all know that it is yet another gimmick from a desparate Government.

Here's another reason why take up has been and will continue to be low, as expected.

I don't get what the article is trying to point out. Is it that the depreciation has increased because of the scrappage scheme or is it simply that cars bought new depreciate with age. If it's the latter then Don't we all know that, with very few exceptions that has always been the case. I wonder if this "report" was being used to back up the sale of a GAP insurance policy perhaps.
