Default If you have a DLP telly - new bulb

Had the rear projection Sagem 50” TV for about 4 years now, the lamp warning light started to flash a few weeks ago and eventually the TV did not come on.

Check on the internet and the bulb was £110. Not as bad as it sounds, when the TV was new they were talking near £300 for a new bulb.
Took 5 mins to change over, very easy - the whole thing (lamp and assembly) pulls out the front. £110 bulb – was bricking it that I would break it.

Anyway got the bulb and (remember this) the small bulb reset circuit (2cm x 3cm). You can put a new bulb in but the TV will still think it is the old one until you reset the countdown timer with the new board – v.sneaky but that should be me for another 6000hrs.

    Wanted a 50" TV 4 years ago.

DLP was just over £2k, Plasma was something like 3 times that - the maths won

Large LCDs' were unheard of at that time. They could not even decide what fomat of HD the TVs were going to have - as SKY were keeping quiet about what option they were going to choose.

Not strictly true. It's LCD with LEDs for the backlit instead of florescent type tubes.

Sony have a OLED but it's only an 11" screen and dearer than the Samsung LCD / LED.
