    Default CIM Warning

Advice for all vauxhall owners with Can bus. If you need a sterring wheel CIM, only buy secondhand if the CIM has been blanked off the system with Tech 2 before removing from donor car using the paas card issued with the car. And it will have to be programed into your car with tech 2 to work correctly. If you buy a sim from ebay or another source that has not been blanked before removal it will not work unless you have all the cam bus modules associated with the CIM and there is a lot.. There is no way round it at all.

Thats pretty much the way it all works on the canbus cars TBH mate... There's not much that can be swapped electrical wise without being unpaired

Found out the easy way. Done some research before taking the wrong steps . Found a breaker in romfors that has tech 2 and blanks them before he removes them.

Now that is rare, that a breaker has the right kit and bothers to do it!

It can be done! But you need a friendly Vx dealer, they can pull the VIN number off the unit and then get the car pass for said VIN number which will then have the code on it. Then its an easy matter of recoding it. Will cost an extra £20 to do it.

Well i am not willing to buy one and take a chance. Even a stealer mech said today they have cars booked in with s/h cim and the can't be reprogramed unless blanked before removal from donor car. So buy new £139 or scondhand blank for £75.
