    Default Brick laying

During an average day, how many bricks could a decent brick layer lay? Assuming a half decent labourer?

Depends on what type of brick and what is being built?

Facing brick is a lot slower than say block work.

    What is the build?

30 foot run exterior wall, just need a bricking rate, not block, ties or insulation. (But build rates for these would be useful separately though)

My boss is having an extension built and the bricky is charging £380 (plus VAT) per 1000 facing bricks laid.
He says that on a good day, he can lay around 500 bricks a day. That price includes the labourer.

Eh, are you talking about the richest brickie in the UK?

A self employed brickie will cost you £150-200 a day labour only.

    £500 a day that's £2.5k a week or 130k a year!!

I am also a brickie, 500 brick a day for quality work.750 for price work. 1000 a day footings. £380 per 1000 average price £120-£150 daywork. You might get cheaper at the moment though a lot of tradesmen out of work. Go down yer local boozer someone will do it as a backhander
