Default Flat blades- recommended by AutoGlass, possibly persuade the wife now...

Three days before the MOT and I got a windscreen chip from a stone on the back roads. The following morning the crack up my screen lead to a call to the insurers.

Autoglass came and put a new screen in this morning. Whislt he was doing the paperwork I asked him to recommend a glass cleaner because the wife's Mr Muscle isn't doing the job! He said diluted vinegar wiping with newspaper if you can stand the smell.
Then I asked about flat blades because I'd like to justify the mod! He said they would perform significantly better, but you need to use a specific screen wash with an added lubricant so they don't squeal or smeer.

Any ideas about the screen wash with lubricant anyone?

As I'm at the stealers Friday I can get the blades with the vx fitment! I'm not interested in saving a few quid for the non-vx blades and all the faffing about fitting.

My VX flatblades are rubbish, smeering and noisy.

Don't waste your money, get the cheaper ones - they fit fine.

I have the Valeo GM Flatblades and have had them on the car for about 2 years with out any problems and as for the screenwash, I only use Decosol as it always performs very well and I have never had frozen washers in the winter since using it

I fitted flat blades, found they "squealed" when using Halfrauds screen cleaner,When I ran out of that I got some ready mixed/diluted from Morrisons garage....................no squealing !.
Daft thing is the wifes corsa has flat blades as standard fit and they do not squeak.
The newspaper & vinegar is old hat, my dad use to do that he always told me it was the method used by chauffers, also that is how they always had a good shine on black cars using a good leather rinsed in a vinegar/water solution not that i would try it.

well the "old" vinegar and newspaper trick dosnt work anymore... as theres no lead in the ink anymore.. (unless you use 20 years old newspaper)
