For the ones that have claimed for houseplants because residents of the constituancy can drop by any time I dont see it as a problem - part of the job.
Claiming for cat food etc - Why? in my job traniners who travel can claim for suits and food and things required as part of your job. They can not claim for luxuries or personal gain.
The big problem seems to lie with the MPs that have exploited the rules and changed there 2nd house so they are in pocket or paid relatives for a bedroom and then claimed there mortgage on there main residence. Or even claiming double the tax allowed - we would be locked up for tax fraud if this happened.
Rules do need to change and the 2nd house allowance should be taken away and independant audits take place.

I think it is really important that the MP's should be able to get their pools cleaned - nobody wants to see untrim Mp's (take Prescott - how bad does he look in front of the cameras). So they need to swim - hence the need to have a clean swimming pool to do it in. I'm more than happy to see my tax going towards that!!!!
