Default What car colours are the most fade prone?

Will be getting my Vectra end of this year or next and wanted to know if there was certain car colours that were more prone to fading?

I like silver but think ultra blue looks really nice and its my fav colour, but i don't want to get one if the colour will fade in a few years time?

Also my car will be parked in my garage but out front it will get the sun all day long?

I don't know if the paint on cars is a lot better than my old cavalier, but any advise from you guys would help

I havent got my car yet as i'm saving cash and don't wan't to get a loan or finance, so i have to go through reviews to find whats best for me.

Like engine colour etc, also service i can do my self as i intend to keep the car

    Thanks

The red ones are quite prone to fading.

However, if it's looked after, washed and waxed etc... regularly then you shouldn't have a problem leaving it in the sun

Mine is Star Silver and spends all it,s time out in the weather. Sometime in the hot sun. But it gets plenty of wax and the paint is looked after. It stil looks like new now. I think modern paint is a lot better now and less prone to fadeing anyway.

i must agree on this one

no matter how beautiful it looks when it is clean, it is very hard to keep it clean and shiny, the paint tends to fade a lot and you need to spend a fortune to get it back although it will not be like before..

    thats my experience

As the others have stated, absolultely keep away from Red, I treated my daughter to a brand new red corsa last year and it has to be frequently polished to retain its colour, it fades to a pinkish color if left for just a few weeks.
I've only had one red car myself and that too was very bad for fading. Something to do with the pigments in the paint, also one of the worst colours to be affected by bird dropping.

Solid colours according to a car paint specialist website also mentioned that they tend to be softer than metalics, with solid black being the softest. Most modern black cars such as saphire black tend to be metalic these days, so they have the added protection of a hard clear coating.

Least affected solid colour according to the website is white, however, most metalics these days are pretty durable.
