    Default Modding an Irmscher Grille

I have noticed that my Facelift Irmscher Grille has the top row of slats blocked off at the back which is also where the air intake is for the air filter. I have thought if this should be open or not as there is no direct flow of air into the inlet but instead the air is coming underneath the intake.
When you buy one of the induction kits that have a cold feed pipe it sits open with a direct flow of air hitting it so I thought that maybe it might be a good modd to try.
    Comments please chaps

i cut out the top blocked piece on the original vx sri grill and all it did was pull the bloomin noise deadening on the underside of the bonnet down onto the engine cover.....

The flap is there so diesels don't get hydraulic lock. You can take it off but beware large puddles.

I just thought that if the itake had a direct air feed it might bump the performance up a little bit but if its risky I will leave alone.
I cant compare it against an OE grille has I have sold it

Put it this way, nutron strapped a leaf blower to the intake of his CDTI and took it on a rolling road, it gave no performance increase what so ever. So removing a flap to let more air in isn't going to do anything.
