Default 2.0dti Fuel Pump - Need Help Finding Cure

    Hi All,

I have an 04 (pre-facelift) veccy with what a stealer is telling me is a defective fuel pump. Regularly the car just cuts the engine, and after diagnosis they have said it's most likely this but want between £1600 & £2k to fit a new one, and they've said this may not be the full fix, perhaps something else has caused it and may need more repairs... as you can imagine the few words spoken were a little bit blue and not repeatable here!

Can anyone help me find someone in Northern Ireland who reconditions the Bosch VP44 that is in this lemon? I really dont wanna buy a new one when from all the reading I've done and from the feel of the car and some other little probs I've had, I think the pump is just f###ed electrically not mechanically.

Anybody else experienced this fault? I'd be surprised if not given how many posts I've read with fuel pump probs...

    Appreciate any replies.

    Jonny B

vectra 1985. I agree with you . Stealers say code reads pump error and in fact its the crank sensor. The garage I use has had 4 like these dealers say pump changed crank sensor.

Try a Website Called DieselBob. they usually have off teh shelf ones for about 400 quid. still expensive......but cheaper than the stealers. ithink you can send them yours as well all depends if its the hybrid ECU or not, if it is you might be out of luck on a recondioning, re-map, uprating.....pretty much anything lol (ive got one and i hate it)

Thanks for the guidance folks, I'll try crank sensor first and see what happens, I managed to get a couple of people in UK to give me reasonable diagnosis charges but I haven't quite had time to get the pump checked for part code etc so I'm glad you've given me a different line of enquiry before I went to too much trouble.

I'll post how I get on

    Default bosch vp44 problem

    Hi,

Just wondering if you sorted your problem? I'm having the same issue, bosch vp44 injector pump is ******ed (apparently!!). New one is £1400 so that not an option. Lots of people tellin me that i need an exact match as a replacement?? I spoke to a gut near Belfast who is telling me he can fix it by swapping out pump with a similar but not exact match and also swapping the main ecu and re-programming. He says he's done it in the past and is charging £250 for pump + £150 labour..

    Paul
