    Default Cam Belt intervals VXR?

anyone know when the belt on the vxr should be changed? i assumed 4 yrs/40,000 miles but couldn't find anything in the service book to confirm or deny this?! :S

also is there anything else anyone would recommend being changed at the same time? eg tensioners, pulleys etc etc

    cheers guys

I'm sure Parapaul did some research into this and after getting several quotes from VX garages, discovered it's actually a chain driven engine...

I May ... and say may be going nuts... but i heard that either the waterpump or a water pump belt should be changed at the same time as the cam belt change...

But I may... be going crazy remember.

Yep, if it's the 2.8 litre engine, it is indeed chain driven.

I dare you to ring round for some quotes for getting a belt changed on it and see what they come back with...

ok, so its a chain driven engine then, which i didn't know, but does anyone know when it should be changed??

I expect it will be very expensive though!! Shouldn't need doing yet i hope, 27,000 on car but want to know when so i can start saving

Never heard of chains being changed at 100k. There are cars with over 400k miles with 1st chain. DTi's though...

Chains and tensioners are not a replaceable item on the 2.8 turbos ... special tensioners , etc and should last as long as the engine does
