gear stick knock ??

The top of my gear stick is somehow loose when you tap or slightly push it it makes a tapping noise, its not the whole stick moving down just the head, ive flicked off the part with the numbers on and theres a strange hole id suggest needing a special tool, any ideas or is it only the stellers that have this tool ??

I have just worked out that it gets worse when it is hot like today, so i assume it must be a friction fit and the heat makes it loose! i think we might just have to put up with it! annoying as it is

I have noticed the same thing today with my 07 veccy. Its really annoying too but like you say i have only noticed it recently in this hot weather.

That used to happen to my dad's one, until one day I ever so slightly tugged on it and it came off in my hand. I think it means its about to drop off!

Try giving it a pull, I bet it will come off!
I ended up getting another 2nd hand one and that been on for a while without any probs!

You could take it off and glue it back in?

Had exactly the same issue with mine about two weeks ago. The knob just pulls off but it takes a bit of upwards pulling. Once it's off you can see the the splined fit. Refitted it and the noise returned about a day later. Took it off again and this time gave it a good clout with my hand, been quite since.

Mine was the same, just pul it off, refit it and give it a hefty clout with your hand (or put a cloth over it and give it a tap with a hammer.

Mine has been fine for months now.
