rear brakes

was out for a spin today and could hear grinding coming from the rear. got back home and had a little look and no brake pads left both sides. should this have been picked up on the service in november only did 5k since then. surely they must have been needing done then and not checked on service.

Yeah it should of been picked up... they would of been around 75% worn...
Take it u do alot of around town driving etc?

My Rear Pads lasted till 25k

do a mixture of long journeys and town. how much for pads from the dealers? think i'll be having words with the garage that done the service.

Another nail in the garage service IMO - ie another piece of the service inspection that doesn't get done.... What actually gets done?? I know what should get done, but that's a different question.

My rear pads went to 75K before they needed replacing.

I certainly wouldn't go to the stealer for rear brake pads, maybe cheaper alternatives are available to you? Would this be the same dealer who did the service and missed the pad wear first time? If so, I'd avoid it and get a casual reminder like a large hammer blow to the head if the thought of going there again springs to mind.

got pads today from dealer for £22, fitting them tomorrow. made up a wee rewind tool should do the job nicely.

also spoke to the garage that serviced the car and was told pads would deffo been checked. would be better servicing the car myself but need the book stamped.
