    Default clunky brakes

my car stops well still but at low speed forward or reverse it clunks when breaking, about 5000 miles ago i had new rear pads and front discs and pads, it sounds like the pads are loose is this happening to anyone else?

    May be a sticking caliper.

A pal in work had a clunking on his brakes and it turned out to be the pads moving in their housing.

Albeit his was a merc but the he was occasionally getting two clunks after pressing the brake.

Check if it happens in the reverse, if not then the calipers may be moving.

ive known the metal retainers on the pads to come away from the pads, but shouldnt make a noise, i would strip them down and have a look, or take it to a garage, best be safe than sorry with brakes imo
