£70? hour and a half labour...?
about £50-80 depending where you go.....try and barter with them
If you were closer it would be beer tokens
How you doing m8,
Look into doing it yourself first,, it really is a piece of p1ss.
I got a quote locally from a small independant garage in Kirkintilloch a few days ago, as I need all 4 springs changed, and was told £40 per corner!!!!
£160 for labour???
I went out and bought the tooling to do it myself at a fraction of that cost. I'll need to read up on how to do it, and have a tentative stab myself over the next few days .
dont forget to have your tracking etc checked. Its as simple as take jack it up, take off the wheel, losen the bolts at the bottom and the single nut at the top in the engine bay, unscrew it all and take the suspension off, with the spring compressors tighten the old spring and dismantle making note to remember teh order everything goes back on, tighten the new spring and place on making sure to sit the spring correctly in its seat, now put it all back to gether and make sure all bolts are tightened. I changed the Clio front springs when they both snapped and it was spot on and didnt need doing but my old Seat was way out. It took me hours but this was only because it was french and still used metric spanners which I didnt have and had to find.
If you was down this end mate it would cost a brew!
All you will need is a impact/windy gun for the top strut bolt a socket set and spring clamps
I done it mate and am a novice with car's or was untill I got a Vectra C.
Done full engine chages and all sorts now
you can get away without using spring clamps on the front struts if you havn't bought them already. Just be careful taking the top nut off when the old spring is still in there.
