    Default Air Con...

Has anybody had problems with their air con??

Yesterday morning @ 06:30 it was 21c so naturally I had the air con running with re-circulation on... travelled about 15 mins on the motorway and the wife decided it was too cold so I turned it off for a while.

About 10 mins later I turned it back on, as I was getting the 'boil in a bag' feeling and when I did steam/smoke came out of the front dash vents It stopped after a few seconds and it hasn't done it since but I just wondered if anyone knew what it could be?? Should I be concerned??

    Hiya m8.

That would have just been condensation because of the air-recirculation and so perfectly normal m8.

Just out of curiosity m8, why did you turn the aircon off? Why didn't you just turn the temperature up a bit!?

Mine did the same a couple of weeks ago. Turned on the air con and steam started coming out of the vents. Only for a few seconds but it's not a nice feeling when you see steam/smoke coming into the cabin!!
It's only ever done it once and it was a very warm and humid morning when it did it.

If you're gonna turn the air con off, then I'd recommend turning off the air-recirculation for 10 secs or so before switching off - this should help clear some of the moisture, but not all. - My advise, just leave the aircon on and adjust the temp if you're too cold.

Yes mate I get that as well. But then again I've had that in every car I've had with AC. All normal mate.

I bet your front window starts to mist up sometimes as well when you turn off AC, doesn't it. Again normal

That is likely to be your pollen filter in need of changing.

No, it shouldn't. Daft question....do you know that the dealer definitely changed it!? It may have been due for a change but it's one of those things that can all too easily be 'forgotten' by the dealer! Or was it you that changed it?

Maybe worth popping the bonnet and whipping out the pollen filter - see what state it's in. If it's a bit manky then maybe worth changing it anyway - they aren't expensive.
