Default Get a life! No way!!

For the time being, I wish to be known as Andrew twovec's!!

My poor old Tractor is sat on the drive, with a shiny new imposter beside it! I hope it doesnt get jealous!

    They've given me a 1.8 'life' and I think it's bluddy awfull!

The seats are rubbish, the squab feels shorter and the backrest shape is definately different, it has no grip, no go, every time you try and pull away it needs at least 2.5k on the tacho, the stereo and dash are a step back to Cavalier times, the new steering wheel is ugly and the suspension nearly made me seasick on the way home. There's nothing worth swapping onto my car either

    The headlights are ok though.

I honestly prefer my old DTi. I can't wait for it to be fixed. I'm tempted to strip the wiper linkage of the hire car, put it on mine and dump the 'life' at the dealer. May 17th had best hurry up and come!

No, even that's fine! I think the only thing I might be swapping over is the drivers side wiper blade, as I knackered mine on a frosty morning when it froze up again as I put the car into reverse!

Other than that, absolutely nothing worth having!

lol - you're not the only one. I've been thinking what I can swipe off this hire car before it goes back. And the answer was...... sweet FA!! My cars got more waaaay more stuff on it than this one! There's nothing that I could have off it!!

I have to say, the Life trim isnt as bad as you all make out, not everyone can afford a top spec 2.0 T or a v6 cdti sri or elite, etc.

I reckon the life is a very good car for what it is, - a value for money family car, the life still gets cd player, cruise control, heated mirrors, steering wheel stereo controls and all manner of gubbins, ok its not much to look at admittedly, but its not that far off the pace of other higher spec vectras.

my cousin has an 05 1.9 cdti life and me a 54 2.0 dti energy (life plus alloys and colour coding), and I still reckon they are quality cars, IMHO way out infront of cars like the Fraud Mundan-o, and french tat like the laguna, 407 and C5

You're right. The spec for an 'entry level' trim car is great, especially if you compare it to cars of ten years ago. What is unacceptable to me however, is how a facelifted car can feel so inferior to the range it's replaced. As I said, the materials look and feel cheaper, the seats have been changed from something I can ( and have ) sat on for 600 miles at a go, to something that gives me backache after 60! As for the Stereo, the less said the better, and like it or not, a 1.8 does struggle in a car that weighs nearly 1500 kilos.

The steering is slightly lighter, which to me makes it feel a bit too 'pointy' at speed ( incidentally, one of the main things that put me off getting another Mondeo ) but around town it's actually pretty good. If VX could have brought in a variable speed setup that had the lightness at low speeds, coupled to the feeling of solidity mine gives at higher speed, it would have been a superb setup.

You're also right when you say the car is still infinately better than it's rivals.

Btw, I was tempted by a newer 'energy' over an SRi at one point, but on the day the SRi was the better compromise for me.
