The Vec will drive better with the extra torque on British roads, the extra PS should help the Omega more on the straight Autobahns.

Only one version in the Vec mate. The Y is only for the emissions. Y is Euro 3, Z euro 4, Insignia are onto A now Euro 5

Its more than likely that its just different maps on the same lump. the power differences are probably just a by product of the different maps.

also the way the engine is mounted,a transverse mounted engines exhaust system is not as efficient as an inline mounted engine so the omega would produce slightly more power naturaly than a vectra with an identical engine,as the omega has different emmision rating this can affect the power slighty, the power and torque differences is more likely down to the engine management system and the camshafts ,vauxhall/opel may have also done a small engine retune with torque more important than top end power

people say that a its possible to put a Y32SE into a vec b 2.6 GSi

    but not a Z32SE.

does any one know why this might be, or if its correct

i would have thought if a Y32SE fitted the Z32SE would as well.

any help on this would be fantastic

    thanks

The ECU is fully tied in with the car on a vec c. There are loads of modules that constantly talk to each other instead of one master ECU like the omega. A stand alone ECU with sort it though. mechanically I bet its only the gearbox and manifolds that need changing to make it fit. You will notice you have never seen an engine upgrade in a Vec C and that's for the same reasons as above.
