    Default 3.2 V6 Fault - Help Appreciated

Hey folks, i have a 3.2 V6 Gsi, and the spanner light came on this morning.. Anyway, it dissapeared after 5 seconds, but re-appears everytime i turn the ignition on - can anyone help?

I remeber reading a thread on here that the V6s had some method of self diagnosis, so i can figure out the fault code, but i have spent ages searching, without prevail..

If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. The car is not underperforming, nor is it making any noises.

    Thanks

    Peter

If it goes out when the engine is started then I don't think you have a problem. Mine seems to do this straight after it has been serviced but stops after approx 2-3 weeks.

Mine does the same. Although i think if you put you keys in the ignition without turning them, then put your foot on the brake pedal and at the same time press the reset button for the milometer and turn the ignition key to stage 1 it should reset. HTH

Where did you read that? That sounds like its for the service indicator not a fault light.

If the spanner comes on and goes out it means its seen a fault but its no longer present. It should go after 30 or so starts of the engine or if you wish you can remove the battery for 30 mins or so to reset it yourself. make sure you have the stereo code if you do this - assuming you still have the vx HU.

That would tie in with 2-3 weeks then, I wonder if they generate a fault intentionally whilst doing the service to check something?
