Default Price quoted for the 3rd service

Today I rang my local vx dealer to get a price to service my car, told them its the 3rd service with 35k on the clock I nearly fainted when she told me it would be £185 I asked what it included and I was told its for the oil change and they check all the other fluid levels and the head light levels and also the bulbs. She then said if its nearer to 40k it would need some other filters changing and that would cost £245 said thanks but no thanks as thats a rip off for some oil and filters.
I will ring the back street garage that I used to use and see what price they give me.

Unfortunately, self service will invalidate warranty.

You need to use VX parts (or equivalent) to the VX schedule and a VAT registered garage to keep warranty in tact.

Still, their price is excessive for essentially an oil and filter change.

i hate the fact that a service like this cost so much, why not make the price more realistic that way they would gain more customers and make more money rather than being greedy, i have known some dealers and one i used to work for and there labour rate was £78 a hour

It may be news to you, but it is the limitations and stipulations on the 'block exemptions' under EU law.

It sounds just a little on the high side by about £20.

IMO there can be warranty benefits by taking one's car to a VX dealer for all its servicing if at all possible.

Most VX dealers servicing charges are fairly reasonable when you compare them to what some other car dealerships charge on their brand of cars.
