    Default Let's race the Vectra!!

Okay, we have only had the Vectra two weeks but I would swear that people see it as a challenge car! I have had so many boy racers reving up next to me at red lights, racing up, levelling off and then looking over like saying "c'mon then". I just shake my head and laff knowing full well that I could leave them standing if I was equally pea brained as they are.

Has anybody else received more challenges since taking on a Vectra. I am very amused by it all. But I must admit, it's not just young lads, I think it's mandatory that high performance cars try and prove that they are just that little bit better but, what they forget is that I am smarter

hubby tells me to go for it but I am afraid I have to point out that the little sods are way too young and wayyyyyyyyyy to inexperienced to encourage them. Guess I am a bit of a wet flannel but hey hum.

Diesels aint what they used to be, as even I have found out to my embarrassment, as I have to ease off to save fuel (petrol, that is) LOL

Don't get it much around here - very rural. What I do get is kiddies in souped up peugeots, astras, corsas up my ar$e on the twisties.

OK - we all break the speed limit from time to time but there are places/conditions where it's sensible to keep pace with traffic flow & "make progress" and there are places it's definitely not.

As a "resting" biker one of pet hates is tailgating. Don't get me wrong - I don't tend to "hang around" in the car when road conditions permit but kids up my boot at 60-70mph on a twistie with no chance of overtaking possible does cheese me off.

The preferred solution is to ease off - light on the brakes just so the lights come on. If they're too close (which is usual) this isn't the safe option. If the fog lights don't fool 'em into thinking I'm braking then its right foot down to put some distance between us.

Works every time & I'm sure there are some confused kiddies wondering how a "diesel estate-type-thing" disappeared from view.
