confused Removing scratches from piano black trim

    Can anyone help with this?

A friend has an '08 Astra with the piano black centre console trim (i.e. the very shiny black trim around the stereo and heater controls). The car was bought nearly-new and there were some scratches in this trim. We tried to remove them with Meguiar's Plastx on an inconspicuous area but this didn't remove the existing scratches and actually added a lot more.

Does anyone have this piano black trim on their Vectra (or Astra) and can advise on what product - and technique - can be used to successfully remove scratches from it?

    Thanks.

It depends how deep they are! you get stuff called Novus special stuff for removing scratches from plastics, comes in 3 grades, you start with the rough till you get the scratch gone then use the others to get the shine back, it is very good stuff, if you need a link LMK

    Ronnie,

Some links would be great. I have had a search but can't find much about Novus products, especially where to get them from in the UK.

Also, which ones would be required for this particular job do you think? It looks like there are 3 different levels of abrasiveness available.

    Thanks.

its good stuff, I use it lots for clear plastics, works a treat, but all depends how much time and effort you put into it
