    Default Removing wiper arms

Any of you good people had problems removing the wiper arms off the splines, mine are stuck solid, Before I get the penetrating fluid and hub puller, anyone know if I need to do something extra, all the other cars I have had they just pulled off after the nut was removed

    Thanks
    SJ

Yep, they can be a sod and get a bit seized on. First thing to do is gently push up and down on the arm - the part just before the spline - and that can loosen it enough. If it's really jammed on then it's a bit of WD40 - which wouldn't do any harm to spray on anyway - and some gently prising. Be very careful obviously given the windscreen. The first time it happened to me I got the dealer to get it off when it was in for something else. When it did it again I just put a bit of wood on the screen and carefully used a jemmy to ease the arm off, all the time pushing up and down on that bit of the arm near the spline.

Once you get it off a bit of copper grease on the spline will help avoid it in the future.

I have to take these off everyday lol.
Just give them a good smack with your fist clenched about 4 inches from the spline , they should pop up.
If not spray and soak with wd40 for 10 mins and try again.
If all that fails , they sell pullers for about a tenner.

How come your taking the arms off anyway ?

Aah, that's handy. I wondered if there was such a thing. I wasn't sure if the dealer had used a puller when they removed mine the first time - it was well seized - and I'd looked at trying a ball-joint puller but it was too big to fit in, so that's handy to know that such a thing exists.

    Thumbs up

    Thanks gents,
After copious soaking in "Rustola" and a quick tweek from the smallest gear puller I had said arms are now off.
Now back to the original job of replacing out a leaking washer jet.
    Thanks.

My wiper stopped working today, coincidentally my friends Fiat had the same problem last week, i whipped up the bonnet and fixed hers with some cable ties, took about 2 minutes, when it happened to me i thought oh well i know how to fix this, but of course with the C you need to take half the ****ing car apart just to get at something. Wipers well and truly seized, couldnt get them off for love nor money and cant find the WD-40! and its raining now, so hell with it lol
