Default Insurance Renewal - ESURE vs GoCompare

Had my renewal through from ESURE, at £432.00.
Not bad considering my age, and that I had a claim last year (still 8 yrs protected no claims, but hey).

I was close to renewing, but just out of curiosity, I went on go-compare.com, and entered the exact same details as my ESURE renewal. Their best quote? £340 - a saving of £100. And guess what company? ESURE! - what's that all about then?!

A quick call to ESURE and they're matched their own price, which is nice of them - so with 2 minutes work I saved myself £100 squid!

Is it worth me trying anywhere else?

Chris Knott (use the club discount from here) or Adrian Flux both dropped over £400 off my renewal - Chris Knott undercut the quote from Adrian Flux by 10% and got my business.

online quotes are generally cheaper than call centre/post outs

    - never ever pay the renewal amount always haggle and always get it cheaper if not go elsewhere - its a buyers market

Yeah, I found those sites were mostly a front for Norwich Union - or at least all the resellers each ended up giving NU the full details. I found that out when I rang NU directly and the guy on the other end said he could see I'd been trying a few quotes.

I only ever use online to get something to beat the direct sellers down on price - did it with my car, doing it with insurance etc. It is indeed a buyer's market, so we've got to play the game well and come out on top!

It's well known that renewal quotes are usually higher than new policies
I've only had it once where the renewal was cheaper or the same price as the new policy quote, and that was due to policy claim settlement with Norwich Union
