Default Performance Air / Panel Filter

Im thinking about changing mine to a K&N jobbie.

Just wondering what benefits/drawbacks there in doing this?

    My car is a 2.2 SRI DTI 130 (Vec-B).

Is there one available for this and where can I get one from?

    Any advice?

    Thanks.

    Bye bye Vec B

there on ebay - part no 33-2848 one size fits all
slightly better mpg and better low down torque, and slightly better pick up - mine sounded quiter than the standard filter - until you give it the beans then slightly louder

some people say theres a placebo effect but i fitted mine about a month ago and i'v had 1.5 mpg increase

the part no you have quoted is the correct one for the 2.2dti vec b, i had one in my sridti vec b & it is worth doing

just to add, it's a direct replacement for the paper filter so it's a simple swap over job hth

I paid £40 ish from Halfords, i gave them the part no. from the K&N website, they had it on next day delivery to the store & i just collected it.

Benefits are improvement in the throttle response, the motor was not drastically faster etc. but it did rev better & cleaner.

As you are probably aware the motors are 123bhp standard, well with the filter alone mine made 128bhp & 212lb torque on the rollers, & blew a lot less smoke than a hand full of cdti's.

I am not convinced about these filters.

But, I might buy another and do some testing just for the hell of it.

, my only gripe is that they are a little pricey at £40.00+.
