    Default Rattling rear hub

I've noticed a rattle from the rear nearside of the car which disappears when braking. There is no problem with the spring.

I jacked the rear of the car up at the weekend to investigate further. I can recreate the rattling sound by rotating the wheel forward/backwards/forward. Each time I change the direction of rotation it rattles.

    Anyone any ideas?

Perhaps a warped disc? I have a similar issue to you on my car, I've been through various replacements to eliminate the problem - next one is disc's.

had wondered about that but it doesn't seem to matter where on the rotation the wheel is it still makes the noise. Would have thought a warped disc would have only affected one part. Also, when rotating the wheel there isn't any particular point where there is more drag than another.

Isn't it quite hard to warp ventilated discs?

Does this occur even when you are moving the wheel very slowly?

it occurs when I change the direction of rotation. I am only rotating the wheel a few degrees, not spinning it.
