    Default Gearstick moves while driving!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gearstick moves slightly back when driving my 56 plate 2.2 sri, only does it in 1st and 5th gear, and by the looks of it its when clutch is released.
    Any Ideas???

Can't say I've looked closely at my knob whilst driving - but I'm sure that's normal - just the little bit of movement in the linkage as the clutch engages/disengages.

Would expect to see it in 3rd aswell?
All of those the linkage cables will be at their tightest point?

That would suggest engine mounts worn , or bolts loose , but strange on a 56 plate .

    Vehicle : Jaguar XF 3.0D V6

If you go from hard acceleration to lift off, and back down this is when most engine movement would be observed and hence tell you if any mounts were not right by large gearstick movements forward and back. Cable shift mechanisms do reduce this though.

When you say slightly, how much are you talking about? Driving earlier today I was in third and looked down at the knob when I accelerated/lifted off and there was a very small bit of movement, as in only a few mm, which I'd expect. Is yours a lot more?

My old 2.2 Direct on an 05 plate used to do this, there is at least one other thread about it. Seems to be normal mate, just the engine tugging on the gearshift cables.
