    Default gatso`s

A BOSS at Britain’s biggest speed camera firm apologised yesterday after he was caught doing 102mph on an A-road.

Tom Riall, a chief executive at Serco, is facing a driving ban after he was caught racing to a business meeting in his 2.7-litre Volvo.
Riall, 49, said he was “unaware of his speed” when cops pulled him over on the A11, where the maximum speed varies from 50mph to 70mph, near Norwich.
Last year Serco spearheaded a high-profile anti-speed campaign backed by the Government.
Riall is due to appear before JPs in Sudbury, Suffolk, on Wednesday, but has already said he will plead guilty to speeding.
The boss, who lives in a £2million home in Reading, said: “I was concentrating on the road rather than my speed and allowed it to be excessive.”
Anyone doing more than 100mph faces an automatic ban of up to two years plus a £2,500 fine.
Riall said: “I understand the consequences of excessive speed and want to make a full apology to the court.”
Serco is responsible for 5,000 of Britain’s 8,000 cameras.

hope he gets banned.....doubt it somehow

Here in Scotland, speeding at 100mph or more results in an automatic disqualification (minimum 3 months)
However, in England and Wales JPs have the discretion to apply more points and a fine if driving is essential to employment
Clearly in this case it is not
Pleading guilty early will probably result in the minimum, so I would reckon 3 months disqualification (plus 3 months for each previous similar offences in the last 5 years), 5 points and £500 fine

suffolk are fairly tight on speeding - i've known stipendary magistrates (magistrates who can leagally sit the bench on their own) send people down for speeding offences

i was banned in suffolk in 1997 for speeding less than a year before i joined suffolk constabulary - at my interview they said ....we see you like speed - will you be applying for traffic ??

0-Large smile ......every time it's driven

I am waiting for the outcome, but doubt he will pick up a ban...

Isn't being unaware of your speed also driving without due care?
